2005 Community
Service Award from Catholic Charities

Jim Farrell is this year’s Community
Service Award winner. A native of Massena, NY, Jim now lives
in Liverpool with his wife Christine and has three children, Sarah,
Kate and Patrick. Jim is a graduate of Massena High School, received
his Bachelor’s from Lehigh University and his Master’s in Industrial
Management from Clarkson University.
Jim has been owner
and CEO of Pella of Central New York for 8 years and both Jim and
Pella have been great supporters Catholic Charities. He has played a
major role in the agency’s development efforts for the past three
years. He began his involvement with the agency as a member of the
first Alliance Planning Committee for their 30 year anniversary. His
hands-on involvement helped us to create our ‘It Takes Teamwork’
fundraiser. Jim currently sits on the agency’s Board of Directors,
the Development Committee and the House of Providence Dinner
Committee.
Last year, he donated
windows to Dorothy Day house, this year he underwrote the cost of
the reception at the House of Providence Dinner. He was among the
first to help get our 1923 Society off the ground.
When he isn’t out
working for Catholic Charities, he, in the true spirit of community
service, can be found as the 4th District County Legislator for the
Town of Salina. He also served as the Mayor of Liverpool from 1997 -
2001. Jim tells us that he does all that he does because he has a
love for this community and he has a desire to give back.
Jim is very involved
with the Liverpool community and is a current member of the Greater
Liverpool Rotary Club. He has been very involved in a variety of
other Community Service projects as well, including Ophelia’s Place
and the St. Marie Museum as well as being a Boy Scout Leader and
coach of boys and girls baseball and softball. When he’s not out
giving back to the community, Jim enjoys spending time sailing,
hunting and skiing.
Other honors he has
received the 1996 Professional Constructor of the year by the
American Institute of Constructors include when he owned his own
construction company, James Farrell Construction Service.
Thank you Jim for all
that you for Catholic Charities and for making Liverpool and all of
Onondaga County a better place to live!
